Enabling & Extending Learning

At Clayton North Primary School, we are committed to providing learning opportunities that respond to the individual needs of every student. Our approach includes targeted intervention for students who require additional support and opportunities for students to extend their learning.

Students requiring additional support participate in targeted Literacy and Mathematics intervention, with opportunities to work in small groups where specific skills can be explicitly taught and reinforced. In the early years, additional Literacy programs focus on developing strong foundations in reading and writing to support future learning.

Across the classroom, rich learning tasks provide opportunities for students to extend their learning, deepen their understanding and apply their knowledge in new and challenging contexts. Students may also have the opportunity to participate in programs such as the Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP), providing further opportunities to engage with challenging learning experiences.

Through targeted support and purposeful learning opportunities, we aim to ensure every student continues to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to progress as a learner.
